Researcher in cancer research

Duties 

You will participate in a research project that investigates molecular mechanisms which underlie lung cancer associated blood brain barrier cell invasions using new animal and cell models. The ultimate goal is to improve prevention and treatment of brain metastasis. The position contains a lot of laboratory work, problem solving as well as implementing new techniques in the laboratory. The position requires to work independently as well as in collaboration with both national and international colleagues. Identifying and setting-up relevant new collaborations is also expected for a successful project. The researcher will also be required to teach and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.  

Qualifications 

For the position is an achieved doctoral degree in relevant subjects such as neurobiology or pharmacology compulsory. The successful candidate should have experience in the field of cancer biology, strong experience of animal and cell model development. Other requirements are extensive practical laboratory experience, experience with molecular biology techniques such as cloning, Western blot, primary culturing and cancer-related assays, experience in working with therapeutic drugs, rodent in vivo experience. Having experience of microscopy techniques such as live cell imaging is beneficial and strong experience using in vivo models for investigation of peripheral and central nervous system interactions is highly meriting. Besides being able to drive the project, the candidate should also be able to work in close collaboration with other lab members and have experience in teaching graduate and under-graduate students. Meriting is strong self-discipline, problem-solution oriented workstyle, organizational skills and good communicative and interpersonal team skills. It is understood that the applicant masters scientific writing in English and has good general communication skills in English.

Following the qualitative overall assessment of skills and proficiency, applicants will be selected who are expected to have the best prerequisites for implementing and developing current tasks as well as contributing to a positive development of the scientific group.

The employment is limited (temporary) for 6 months, 100 % of full-time and is placed at the Institute of Clinical Sciences, the department of surgery. Starting date; As agreed
