Postdoctoral researcher in economics

The Department of Economics is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences with approximately 100 employees from a dozen countries. Each year about 1,000 students participate in undergraduate (BA), graduate (MA) and PhD level courses. Researchers at the department are frequently engaged as experts by the government and by the media, and interact with the society at large in a number of ways.

Duties
The duties consists of research, own and together with the participants, within the ongoing research project ”The Macroeconomy and High-Dimensional Heterogeneity on the Micro Level” financed by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (see here for more information). Moreover, teaching at most 20% of the time is included in the position.

Requirements
A PhD degree in economics or a foreign degree equivalent to a Ph.D. degree in economics. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.

Additional qualifications
Competence and experience related to the questions within the project are advantageous. Particularly concerning macroeconomic models with heterogeneous agents, machine learning algorithms (especially with regard to causal inference), applied microeconometrics, and microsimulation models.

The assessment of applications is primarily based on the applicant’s ability to conduct independent research based on scientific excellence. Greater emphasis is placed on the quality of each individual scientific work rather than the quantity of publications. Proficiency in spoken and written English is a requirement.
