We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a 2 year and 7-month position, to commence on 1 June 2024 or after agreement.
The position will include research within pig health with focus on gut health and the use of molecular methods for characterisation of the porcine microbiota.

Our research
We are an inclusive and dynamic group performing high quality veterinary research to the benefit of pigs, pig producers and herd health management advisors. Our research topics includes diagnostic procedures, prevention and treatment of diseases, and management strategies to enhance the health of pigs. The research is performed in close collaboration with other research groups in Denmark and abroad. Based on our research we deliver research-based teaching and scientific advice to The Danish Veterinary Consortium (DK-VET).
Your job
You must participate in the interdisciplinary and dynamic research environment within pig health. The main duties will be to conduct research on the role of the gut microbiota for gut health and robustness in pigs. This will also include the role of early antibiotic treatments and other risk factors on subsequent health. You will also take part in other university activities. We expect the candidate to work both independently as well as in teams of national and international researchers.
Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills:
- You have a PhD in Pig health including the role of the microbiota for gut health
- You are highly experienced in clinical research with pigs
- You have an active interest in molecular characterisation of the gut microbiota
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
- English skills written and spoken
Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 year and 7-month. The start date is 1 Juny 2024 or after agreement.
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 36,400 DKK/approx. 4,880 EUR (October 2023 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
