Postdoc in Functional analysis of glycoproteins and glycosaminoglycans at Copenhagen Center for Glycomics

We are offering one or more postdoc positions at the Copenhagen Center for Glycomics (CCG) with the Miller and Schjoldager Groups, commencing from April 1st 2024, or after agreement.

Our research
Copenhagen Center for Glycomics (CCG) is composed of 5 research groups and hosts about 10 post docs and 15 PhD students in addition to Master students and guest researchers. CCG strives to be a leader in glycosciences in pioneering the transformation of the field towards wider integration into mainstream cell biology by developing experimental strategies, informatics approaches, and sustainable resources amenable not only to experts. We aim to facilitate the discovery of diseases caused by altered glycosylation, develop new diagnostic and therapeutic tools, and identify new ways to design and produce improved glycoprotein drugs. CCG is a cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and training Center located on the 10th floor of the new Mærsk Tower science building within the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM). CCG has state-of-the-art facilities for mass spectrometry, mass photometry, flow cytometry, cell engineering, and glycan arrays, and group leaders hold diverse expertise in all areas of glycosciences. Our core valuables include glycoproteome data and bioinformatics tools, validated gene editing tools, glycoengineered cell libraries, and design matrices for the recombinant production of glycotherapeutics. CCG hosts an international seminar series, PhD courses in glycobiology and gene editing, and participates in ICMMs education program. CCG also houses a spin-out (GlycoDisplay ApS) dedicated to developing improved glycoprotein drugs.

This research program are within the Miller group at CCG at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM) driving research project. The Miller group is home to a highly interdisciplinary team, working at the intersection of genomics, molecular biology, technology platforms, and artificial intelligence. One of our studies has just been published in Science, and we are striving for excellence and impact, we aim to do research that pushes the boundaries of human knowledge, and that benefits citizens health.

Job description:

  • The use of cutting-edge technologies in large-scale data analysis (cancer genomics, population genomics), DNA/RNA sequencing (e.g. Nanopore data generation and analysis), gene editing, and artificial intelligence (e.g. DNA and protein language models).
  • We are looking for a talented and motivated researcher with the ability to develop signal processing and machine learning methods to decipher the complex problems of interpreting the signal outputs.

The project will be performed with Oxford Nanopore technologies and the applicant is expected to occasionally travel to Oxford for the project.

Start:                 April 1st, 2024, or after agreement

The Schjoldager Group
This research program are in the Schjoldager group at Copenhagen Center for Glycomics at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, University of Copenhagen, driving research projects related to the discovery and dissection of biological functions of protein glycosylation with a focus on the identification of specific molecular functions of glycoproteins and glycoconjugates that impact human physiology and common diseases and dispositions to disease.

Job description:
Our research team is embarking on a groundbreaking project aiming to validate and understand the role of glycosylation in processes relating to protein secretion.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to contribute to the in vivo profiling of glycosylation-dependent protein secretion. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and execution of experiments involving proximity labelling, generation of cell models, and the use of advanced microscopy as well as mass spectrometry techniques. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a collaborative and high-impact project in a world leading glycoscience based center.

Start:                 April 1st, 2024, or after agreement

Duration:          2 years

Principal supervisor Associate Professor Katrine Schjoldager (schjoldager@sund.ku.dk).
