Doctoral Student in Statistical Genetics

Field of work

The goal of this project is to work on statistical methodology and algorithmic problems that arise in the analysis of genotype data on data sets where participants may be related and where data may be partially missing. The PhD student will also work on implementing statistical methods to work with real datasets.

Qualification requirements

– Applicants should hold a degree in biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer science, Bioinformatics, Human genetics, Epidemiology or related fields
– Experience in programming
– Prior experience working with family data sets in genome-wide association studies is a plus but is not required
– Applicants whose first language is not English must submit evidence of competency in English
– Evidence of interest, aptitude and research experience in the above disciplines
– Independent work methods and good communication skills

Application process

Funding is secure for up to three years of 80% position and salaries in accordance with the current collective wage and salary agreement between the trade union and the Minister of Finance. The doctoral student will participate in applying for additional funding. Teaching assistant positions in Biostatistics 101 will also be available to the student.
