Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Sociology of Religion
The University of Agder, Faculty of Humanities and Education, invites applications for one full-time, fixed-term appointment for a period of two years as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Sociology of Religion at the Department of Religion, Philosophy and History, Faculty of Humanities and Education. The position is located at Campus Kristiansand. The starting date is negotiable with the Faculty.
Description of the position
The position is associated with the research group Religious Minorities and Religious Diversity. The group’s activities focus on advanced research on majority and minority relations, and the proposed postdoctoral project should be framed within the scope of (one or more of) the core themes and empirical areas of interest of the group. Qualifications and terms
The successful applicant must hold a PhD degree in Sociology of Religion, Sociology, Religious Studies, Theology or equivalent fields. To be considered for the position, applicants must have an approved dissertation by the time of the deadline. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of academic background and results, and any previous research. The position places great demands on the successful applicant´s capacity to carry out cutting-edge research and independent goal-oriented work. Documented publications beyond the PhD degree and experience from externally-funded research projects (application work and implementation) will be emphasised, as well as personal suitability and good teamwork skills. Short-listed applicants may be invited for interviews.
Applicants must submit a project description and a progress plan for the proposed postdoc project including a publication plan for the postdoctoral period. An essential part of the assessment of the applicants is the quality of the project description.
The working languages are Norwegian or English. A high level of oral and written proficiency in English is required.

The position is remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan 17.510, code 1352 Post-doctor, gross salary per year NOK 544 400 – 607 700. In the case of particularly highly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. A 2 % compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
