DTU Compute’s Section for Embedded Systems Engineering (ESE), invites applications for an appointment as postdoc for 2 years and a half within the area of Internet of Things (IoT) security. The position is available from 1st of March, 2019 or according to mutual agreement.

The aim of the new position is to expand the department’s research in the area of IoT security.
Responsibilities and tasks
The postdoc position is framed in the context of the Danish national project “CIDI – Cybersecure IoT in Danish Industry” funded by Industriens Fond (Industry Foundation). The main purpose of the project is to strengthen Danish companies’ cyber security level in relation to Industry 4.0, in particular IoT. The project will contribute to creating greater strategic awareness of IoT security from the management level and downwards in Danish business, and to upgrading companies both commercially, organizationally and technically for strategic and commercial exploitation of IoT security (IoT Security as a competitive parameter). The ambition is to make IoT security tangible and understandable for industry, thus utilizing IoT and IoT security as a growth driver.
Real world case projects with industry will be carried out in the project. Thus, a strong emphasis through the postdoc position will be to assess the current cyber-security level of companies in order to identify weaknesses, needs and criticalities, and to propose a relevant solution. Therefore, the specific research area of the postdoc should be able to contribute to the following tasks:
- Development of a screening tool on IoT security for companies
- Use the screening tool to measure the competencies and maturity of companies in IoT security
- Design a framework for IoT security in order to increase the level of security of IoT products
- Develop prototype(s) that companies can use in order to apply the framework
- Coordinate a number of PhD/MSc students on cyber-security research
Other content of the position
- There will be an opportunity to do teaching at the master’s level; the position may also involve handling administrative tasks to a limited extent.
- Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or similar, is required
- Background on cyber-security is considered fundamental for the position
- Background on IoT is considered a plus
- The ability to develop theoretical solutions followed by a concrete prototype is considered a plus
- Teaching experience in related subjects is considered a plus
- Participation in academic collaborations in relevant areas
- Relevant publication track record

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
