Post-doc in Electronic Plants
formally based at the Laboratory of Organic Electronics, at the Department of Science and Technology of Linköping University

A Post-doc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.

The Post-doc will focus on advancing the vivo manufacturing techniques for developing electronics in vivo, in plants. The research will be part of the FET-OPEN project HyPhOE- Hybrid Electronics Based on Photosynthetic Organisms. One of the main goals of this project is to develop a set of tools and methods for bi-directional electronic and chemical interfacing with photosynthetic organisms. The post-doc will primarily focus on research and personal development within the field of electronics plants. The post-doc will investigate manufacturing methods for developing electronics in plants in vivo with focus on functionalization of rooted plants. The post will work closely with the chemists of the group. The findings will be the backbone for the targeted applications for the project that relates to energy systems and environmental monitoring. The research will be primarily of experimental character including lab-scale manufacturing as well as material, device characterization and plant integration. The activities will include literature review, lab work, writing and communicating the scientific findings.

The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.

The applicant should have a PhD and strong scientific background in physics, materials science, chemistry, (bio)engineering and/or other relevant field. Experience in conducting polymers, nanomaterials and bioelectronic devices are of extra merit. Interest in plants is mandatory. The applicant should be driven, creative, strongly self-motivated with excellent problem solving abilities. The applicant should be able to work effectively both individually and together with other researchers in a multidisciplinary context. The applicant should have very good communication skills and good knowledge of English.

Appointment time
A Postdoc is appointed until further notice, but for no longer than two years. The appointment can be renewed if there are special reasons.

Starting date 
Fall 2018
