At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology a position as Postdoc in Computer Vision is open for appointment from October 1st, 2018 or soon hereafter and for a period of one year. The Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology has as its goal the development of an innovative cluster of engineering-based environments for education and research which integrate creativity, engineering and technology within the disciplines of architecture, urban design, industrial design, digital design and interactive media. The department is a leading research and educational environment in Denmark that addresses the challenge of the interplay between creativity and technology, and develops new areas in research and education directed towards the end-user.
Recent advances in deep learning have opened up an opportunity for computer vision to meet other fields of science with tools that are customizable to these different fields. In this project we are interested in studying the perception of food taste using computer vision-enabled tools for Alzheimer patients. More specifically, we are interested in developing computer vision tools that look at facial expression of subjects while they are exposed to different types of foods (that they like or dislike) and look for changes in their facial expressions and use this information to understand the relationship between food taste perception and facial expression. We will develop a system that is working with healthy subjects and then try to customize it for people suffering from Alzheimer to see the relationship between facial expression and food taste change. To this end we are opening a one-year postdoc position which might be extendible, starting as soon as possible.
The candidate is expected to have experience in computer vision and hold a PhD degree (or to be graduated soon).
The postdoc position is sponsored through the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research (SDC) by funding from the Neuroscience & Neuroimaging programme. The postdoc candidate will also be central to the further development of the Sino-Danish Center and the related research themes in Neuroscience and Neuroimagingand between Danish Universities and University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) see: http://sdc.university/research/research-areas/.
The employer is Aalborg University in Denmark and the place of work is the Visual Analysis of People (VAP) laboratory at Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology. The postdoc will also be affiliated with the Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience (CCN) at Department of Communication and Psychology (http://ccn.aau.dk/), at Aalborg University. Finally the candidate is expected to spend half of his/her employment time in China to conduct both research on the above topic as well as do some teaching in Signal Processing at the SDC, Yanqihu Campus, Beijing. There will be funding to cover the expenses of the candidate’s trips to China.
