PhD fellowship in Odontology Characterization of the salivary microbiota and inflammatory analytes

TheDepartment of Odontology invites applications for a PhD fellowship. Thecandidate will work in the field of Periodontology. Thus, the candidates shouldbe able to perform studies in Periodontology. 


The PhDfellowship is full time and will commence September 1st, 2018 or assoon as possible thereafter.  


Project/Scientific area 

The project: 

Characterizationof the salivary microbiota and inflammatory analytes using contemporarymolecular biologic methods with the objective: 

Tocharacterize the impact of non-surgical periodontal treatment on the salivarymicrobiota and salivary levels of inflammatory analytes.

Job description 

The keytasks for the PhD fellow will be to: 

  • Manage and carry out an independent research project under supervision 
  • Write scientific articles and the PhD thesis based on the research project 
  • Complete PhD courses or other equivalent education corresponding to approximately 30 ECTS points 
  • Obtain experience with teaching or other types of dissemination related to the PhD project 
  • Participate in undergraduate teaching of students in odontology 
  • Participate in national and international congresses and scientific meetings 
  • Stay at an external research institution, preferably abroad 


Thecandidate must hold a relevant Master’s degree in dentistry (DDS) and mustdocument clinical experience including practical skills and theoreticalknowledge including experience in research settings. Furthermore, a candidatewith experience within the subject areas will be preferred. 

Furthermore,a candidate with experience within periodontology will be preferred. 


It is aprerequisite that the candidate can be enrolled as a PhD student at the Facultyof Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen and attached to thegraduate programme in Muscoskeletal and Oral Sciences (MUSKOS).  


Terms of employment 

Salary andother terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with theAgreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation ofProfessional Associations). The candidate is required to perform assigned tasksin connection with teaching during the period of employment.
